I wish for just one day, the church really could remove homosexual influences from its life. I wish that bigoted congregations would have to witness beloved hymns torn out of their hymnbooks because they were written by unknown gay or lesbian believers. I wish every beautiful stained glass window designed by a gay artist would have to be broken, for just one day. I wish all the sick who died with a loving but closeted lesbian minister or social worker by their side could rise from the dead to give thanks to God for that faithful love. I wish for just one day the church could witness the debt of gratitude humanity owes to our GLBT brother and sisters.
I love the sentiment, Jim! However, I would amend that destroying the art of the GLBT artists only hurts the memory of the artist. Make the ignorant among the Christian faith do without the art, just as science deniers should be forced to do without their iPhones for a month, but don´t destroy their beautiful songs and art! 🙂 You´re one of the good´ns, friend.
Good point. I was trying to say that I wish the church would have to experience that devastating loss for just one day. I didn’t mean to really destroy the real art, but I get your point, that it could sound like I was putting the burden on the wrong people. Thanks for stopping by the site.
