Learn this lesson from a candle:

Life is a kind of combustion, a kind of burning.

The candle does not fulfill itself by remaining unlit,

Only by burning does it give its gift.

You and I are also a kind of burning,

We, too, gain nothing by holding ourselves back from life.

We can only burn our way to living and loving.

We should not dishonor spent candles by saying they have died,

We should honor them by realizing they have become light.
