When animals get trapped in a feedback loop unrelated to survival it can spell doom. Species that get too good at interspecies competition can develop nonadaptive traits that lead to extinction. If a human mammal sits at a terminal and develops a cyber life outside of nature, how long before it can no longer deal with such threats as ecological degeneration and perils unrelated to the virtual world within which it now finds meaning?
