I sometimes catch myself talking about people in a way that leaves their oppression invisible. A person is not a “slave” but “someone who has been enslaved.” It’s not “the third world,” but “the present and former exploited colonized peoples.” It is not “the working poor,” but “the victims of wage theft.” I sometimes slip and forget that speaking from the vocabulary of the oppressor is itself an affront to justice.
I see you deleted my comments. OK. It’s your blog.:-) But let’s be clear: you and I both know what you really, truly are: A coward, sir, and a fraud.
Did you know that there is a word whose definition includes both the terms “coward” and “fraud”?
Robert, from now on, when your comments lack content, I will block them every time. I gave you plenty of chances to stop posting personal insults. I suspect that is all you want to do. If you want to post a comment about the topic at hand instead of turning it into a personal attack I will be happy to post what you have to say. I want this to be a place where people can come to respectfully discuss the issues. Why should I pollute the experience of my readers by posting your ugly comments? You are a very smart person. I don’t know why you are wasting your time like this. If you find me incompetent, stop coming here. Better yet, start your own blog. When confronted by ignorance a fool attacks and a sage teaches. If you feel I am wrong teach me, but you’ve run out of time for tantrums.
Let me repeat my offer to meet with you to talk this out. I hope you can find the courage to do that. Hiding behind a keyboard and insulting people is a long way from courage.
