The idea I’m getting from looking at Pan African newspapers is they seem to agree that Kony is doing horrible things and should be stopped, but they also warn that propping up the dictator in the region could actually make things worse. So when “Invisible Children” reports only the atrocities committed by one side of the struggle, they give the false impression that supporting the other side will end the violence. The people of the Congo are caught between several monsters and cannot be delivered by killing only one. And if one studies the history of US actions in the Congo, one might surmise that it is time to support the World Courts and stop even pretending to be the world savior. If we have the courage to learn our real history, we will have to admit there were times we were a lot closer to Typhoid Mary than the Lone Ranger.
