The ruder someone is in a political conversation, the more certain you can be they are protecting an unfair advantage. The ruder someone is in a religious conversation, the more certain you can be they are protecting a dying paradigm.

Well said. However, dying paradigms aside, you would agree that there are some eternal truths, would you not?
I believe what is eternal are the principles by which things change, which means we must constantly change our minds to stay in touch with eternity.
I am having difficulty with an answer to your question. Could you give me a hint or two?
Vershall,
I must be getting old my friend, I don’t remember the question. If you will give me a hint or two about the question, I’ll give you a hint or two about the answer. Assuming of course I had any idea what I am talking about in the first place.
Jim
It would seem to me that a discussion of there being some eternal truths would require defining what one means by “eternal” and what one meant by “truth”. I don’t know that a person can presume to pin down with precision either word; but at least it would be helpful in any discussion to have an idea of what the persons involved meant by the words.
Jim’s response above, which evidently came in while I was writing my thought, is very helpful. Thanks.
Jim: My query about “the question” should have been directed to Terry. Sorry about the misdirection. Ginny’s post really States my concern far better than I can. Definitions of “Christian nation” and “eternal truth” (by Terry, too, I hope) would very helpful.
